About Lin San Temple
The Hakka Shifu Ruixiang from Guangdong established Lin San Temple, which is located at 27 Lorong 12, Geylang. Shifu Ruixiang died in the 1960s, and the temple affairs were taken up by venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师) and Mingzhen Shifu. venerable Seang Heng (常恒) renovated the temple in the early 1970s, and in 1973, he held the “Lin San Temple Reconstruction Ceremony.” Lin San Temple grew in popularity under the guidance of Venerable Seang Heng (常恒) , and many people gathered to worship Buddha together at the temple.
20 years ago, Lin San Temple was named as a perilous structure and had to be revamped. Due to the damage of building foundation, lacking of funds and more reasons, Venerable Seang Heng’s hope for the remake of sanctuary had to be shelved, even till his passing in 2017. Rebuilding Lin San Temple is the only wish of Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师). Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师) was born in China Jiangsu. At the age of 11, he became a monk and grew up in Nanjing Gulin Temple. He then moved to station in Port Klang at Malaysia. He later took over Lin San Temple and purchased Chong Hwa Temple on the same street. “Lin San Temple was demolished in the hands of Venerable Seang Heng (常恒法师), so he especially hoped to see the completion Lin San Temple rebuild construction, we sincerely hope to be able to get the help and support from the people to fulfill Venerable Seang Heng’s final will“.
After several fundraising support endeavors from the community, the restored sanctuary is bigger and beyond anyone’s imagination. Venerable Seang Heng’s last desire of Lin San Temple being reconstructed into modern Buddhist temple is going to be completed soon in year 2021.
Completion of Lin San Temple
The rebuild of Lin San Temple is completed on 11 March 2022! The Blessing Ceremony was organized on the day. Family members are welcome to contact us and visit Lin San Temple.
First Interment at Lin San Temple Columbarium
On 12 March 2022, Lin San Temple hold the first interment in columbarium and ancestral tablet activation ceremony.
Lin San Temple is collaborating with Nirvana Memorial Garden to rebuild the new building which targets to be completed by December 2021.
